Nagarkurnool is a district in the southern region of the Indian state of Telangana. The town of Nagarkurnool is the district headquarters. It was part of the Mahbubnagar district prior to re-organisation of districts in the state. The district shares boundaries with Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy districts and with Andhra Pradesh State.
After forming Telangana state, Nagarkurnool become a district, it was previously part of Mahbubnagar district. The new district has three revenue divisions Nagarkurnool, Achampet, Kalwakurthy and with total twenty mandals.
Geography
The district is spread over an area of 6,545.00 square kilometres (2,527.04 sq mi).
Demographics
As of 2011 Census of India, the district has a population of 893,308.
Administrative divisions
The district has three revenue divisions of Achampet, Nagarkurnool and Kalwakurthy and is sub-divided into 20 mandals. E.Sridhar is the present collector of the district.
Politics
Nagarkurnool is a new district created on 11 October 2016 in Telangana state, it was previously in Mahabubnagar. The new district has three revenue divisions: Nagarkurnool, Achampet, Kalwakurthy with twenty mandals. The town has a great history and it was a district headquarter in Nizam’s rule.
