Kandukur or Kandukuru is a town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and the Mandal headquarters of Kandukur Mandal in Kandukur revenue division.
Geography
Kandukuru (earlier known as Skandapuri) is located at 15.2165°N 79.9042°E. It has an average elevation of 13 meters (43 ft).
Demographics
As of the 2017 India census, Kandukur had a population of 1,54,000. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kandukur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kandukuru, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Education
The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state.
