Indore: Stones were pelted on a team of health officials while they were trying to trace a person who had come into contact with a COVID-19 patient earlier.
The incident occurred in Taat Patti Bakhal area when the team of five was trying to find out the whereabouts of the person.
A woman doctor said they were rescued by police personnel.
"The moment we started enquiring about that particular person's health, people started protesting and later some of them hurled stones. We were saved by police personnel," she said.
Terming the incident as very unfortunate, Indore chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr. Pravin Jadia said that the medical personnel was working to protect people from the coronavirus infection but they were pelted with stones.
The protestors also broke police barricades.
"Two women doctors suffered injuries on their legs in the incident. They somehow protected themselves by hiding inside the vehicle of tehsildar," PTI quoted the CMHO as saying.
A case has been registered at Chhatripura police station.
Police search party attacked in Bihar
This comes after four policemen were injured by a group of people owing allegiance to Tablighi Jamaat in Bihar’s Madhubani.
The mob attacked the police search party when the men in uniform admonished them for defying the ongoing 21-day lockdown.
While four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident efforts are underway to nab others.
The incident took place late on Tuesday night when a police party went to Girdargunj village in Andhra Dhari block of the district after receiving information about a large gathering in a mosque under the banner of Tablighi Jamaat.
At the spot, a heated exchange ensued between the police party and those assembled including the participants clashed with the policemen. As per the reports, stones were pelted on the police team and shots were fired.
