I promised you that I will post more khichdi recipe, this is one version of it. So much healthier one. Since it is filled with spinach. Spinach is filled with iron, so it is much more nutritious for your baby. You can add any spinach in this, I used arai keerai.

1) Cook rice and dal properly till it is almost mashed up, which helps in easy digestion in babies.

How to make Rice & Dal Khichdi:

Ingredients:

Rice – 3 tablespoon

Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu – 3 tablespoon

Spinach Leaves – Two handfuls

Garlic – 6 cloves

Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi – a pinch

Salt to taste

Homemade Ghee – 1 tablespoon

Water – 1 1/2 cup

Method:

Take rice and dal in a bowl and wash it well. Now drain it and add it into a pressure cooker.

Add in garlic, asafoetida, salt, spinach leaves.

Add in water and cover the cooker. Pressure cook this for 5 whistles and simmer it for 5 mins. Switch off the flame and let the steam escape all by itself.

Open the cooker and mash the rice with a potato masher or if you want it to be smooth, you can take that in a blender and puree them.

Pour this into a bowl. Drizzle in homemade ghee and mix well.

Feed your baby warm.
