Samalkota is a town in East Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The town also forms a part of the Godavari Urban Development Authority. Previously spelled as Samulcottah.

Samarlakota is located at 17.0500°N 82.1833°E. It has an average elevation of 9 meters (32 feet).

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation operates bus services from Samalkota bus station. Samarlakota railway station is an important railway junction on the Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada section of the Howrah-Chennai mainline. The railway line to Kakinada branches at this railway junction. One more advantage is the Bus Station and Railway Station are situated opposite to each other. The nearest airport to Samalkota town is Rajahmundry Airport which is 40 km away.

The first boarding school was established in 1882 by the Canadian Baptist Mission known as the C. B. M. Boys' School. Notable among those who were associated include A. B. Masilamani and also his Teacher Chetty Bhanumurthy.

 

The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state. The medium of instruction followed by different schools is English, Telugu.
